Wayside Mounds

Located on highway 60 about 5 miles east of Bridgeport, this group, consisting of three linear and six conical mounds, is in generally

decent condition. The only problem is, being part of the wayside, mounds get mowed and get foot traffic over them - this problem will

only get worse as Highway 60 was designated Wisconsin's Scenic Byway in 2009 - the move that's supposed to generate more tourism

and attract more visitors to this area. Growing native grasses over the mounds and marking them should take care of the problem.
