Trempealeau Platform Mounds

The Trempealeau Platform Mounds are a one of only two known sites of the Mississippian Culture platform mounds in Wisconsin, 
the best known being Aztalan (some recognize Telfer Mound couple miles north of Aztalan as being a separate entity, while others
 claim it's part of Aztalan). The site was publicly owned for many years, but only recently became accessible to the general public.
 Currently there are very good exhibits around the mounds, with historical illustrations and the story of this mound complex. However,
 in the past the site was used and abused, and at some point there was a water tower right on top of the bigger mound; there are still leftovers of the foundation of the water tower visible today. Short story pertaining to the mounds can be found at TRIP website at:
