Plainfield Tunnel Channel Lakes SNA Mounds

 

There is a small mound group on the southern shore of Plainfield Lake near the small community of Plainfield just off Interstate 39

south of Stevens Point. The property is in the process of acquisition by DNR from Feyrer family to preserve Wisconsin threatened plant

species Fassett's Locoweed. Mounds will be maintained and possibly accessible for viewing in the future. The property in question

will become part of Plainfield Tunnel Channel Lakes State Natural Area.
