Limery Ridge Mounds

 

According to Wisconsin DNR, the Limery Ridge Savanna State Natural Area contains one linear and several conical mounds.

The only legal access mentioned is up the slope from Highway 35 just north of Prairie du Chien. When I got there, I realized it was

one of those "Don't do this at home" deals.  Having made it half the way up the wooded slope, I encountered a sheer wall or rock

and had to retreat.
