There are few groups of mounds preserved on private lands around Lake Koshkonong.

The biggest one is a Hoard Group, located on the grounds of the aptly called Koshkonong Mounds Country Club (above). Once thought to have at least 36 mounds, this group is inaccessible to public, and the golf course doesn't advertise or mention the mounds on its website, apparently not wanting anybody but paying customers on its greens. Please remember that the course is a private property and has the right to take legal action against trespassers! (The reason I didn't do an extensive photography there is i didn't want to be one!) According to Hugh Highsmith , 22 mounds survive to this day. Used to have 8 conical, 1 oval, 1 pear-shaped, 2 linear, 2 tapering linear, 1 curved club-like, 4 bird effigies, 2 panthers, 5 turtles.

There are also leftovers of the Koshkonong Group (not to be confused with the above). Originally it contained 63 conical mounds, 5 linear, 1 curved linear, 1 oval, 3 tapering linear, 2 effigies, 1 conical with short tapering appendage and another conical with a long one, and 1 unusual mound that looks like turtle without any tail (total 78 mounds). According to locals, the surviving remains of the group contain effigies and may eventually be bought by the county to preserve the mounds. The mounds get mowed, but otherwise don't get disturbed (see below).
